I Am An Example

• Monday, February 25:

  • Read 1 Samuel 14:1-23
    In what way did Jonathan encourage his armor-bearer to step out of his comfort zone?  How did he respond?  What was the importance of the two of them stepping out into the open?  Have you ever been afraid to let people in the world see you as a Christian?  If so, how did you deal with your fear?  What did the armor-bearer risk by stepping forward and moving ahead with Jonathan?

• Tuesday, February 26:
  • Read 1 Timothy 4:11-16
    From the text, what particular “comfort zone” do you think Timothy had to step out of?  In what areas was Timothy to set an example according to verse 12?  Which of those areas presents the greatest challenge for you personally?  In what way?
• Wednesday, February 27:
  • Read Titus 2:1-8
    How might Titus have had to step out of his comfort zone in order to follow through with Paul’s instructions?  How does one’s example influence one’s teaching?  Who are you training to follow your example? 

Note:  The daily studies for Monday through Wednesday will form the basis for our small group discussions on Wednesday evenings.

• Thursday, February 28:
  • Read 1 Corinthians 10:31-11:1
    In what way is Paul stepping into the open with what he says to the Corinthian believers?  What are the “pros” and “cons” of living your Christian life out in the open for all to see?  How does the final verse of our text challenge you?  Do you think you should be able to say the same thing?  Explain your answer.
• Friday, February 29:
  • Read 2 Thessalonians 3:6-13
    How had Paul and his fellow workers stepped into the open among the Thessalonians?  Why do you think Paul pointed out his own example?  If you are to be a good model for people to follow, what particular qualities are necessary?
• Saturday, March 1:
  • Read Philippians 3:1-4:1
    What do you see Paul doing in this text?  What do you think the Lord is teaching about stepping forward and moving ahead in the Christian life?  How does Paul’s example impact you? 
• Sunday, March 2:
  • Read 1 Peter 2:21-25
    What example from Jesus does Peter encourage Christians to follow?  What does that look like in your daily life?  Are you stepping forward and moving ahead with the example Jesus has given you?  Explain your answer.
