We Are The Body of Christ - Week of Mar. 10

• Monday, March 10:

  • Read 1 Corinthians 12:12-27
    In what way does the imagery of the human body fit as a description of the church?  Why is it important to understand that we reflect the unique identity of Jesus Christ?  How does the image of the body show the importance of each individual member?  How does the image of the body illustrate our dependence on one another?

• Tuesday, March 11:
  • Read Ephesians 1:15-23
    How does Paul’s prayer reveal a desire on his part for the Ephesians to reflect the image of Christ?  What do you think he meant when he described the church body as “the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way”?  How does this text influence your prayers for Deer Run?
• Wednesday, March 12:
  • Read 1 Corinthians 6:12-17
    What problem is Paul dealing with in this text?  What part should our role as members of the body of Christ play in our decision making?  How has the fact that your body is a member of the body of Christ influenced a particular decision in your own life?

Note:  The daily studies for Monday through Wednesday will form the basis for our small group discussions on Wednesday evenings.

• Thursday, March 13:
  • Read Colossians 3:15-17
    What is the importance of peace ruling your heart when it comes to the overall peace in the body of Christ?  What activities referred to by Paul in this text contribute to that peace?  In what way?  What does it mean to do whatever we do “in the name of the Lord Jesus”?
• Friday, March 14:
  • Read 1 Corinthians 10:14-22
    What problem is Paul dealing with in this text?  What types of “idols” do we have to flee from in our culture?  How does the participation of individual members of the body of Christ in sinful activity influence the church as a whole?  How does that reflect the importance of each Christian?
• Saturday, March 15:
  • Read Ephesians 4:1-16
    How does Christ build up His church?  Why is it important for all Christians to be active in works of service?  In what way are we dependent on one another?  How does that impact you personally? 
• Sunday, March 16:
  • Read Romans 12:1-8
    Describe the body of Christ using this text.  In what way does Paul reveal our dependence on one another?  Name 3 people on whom you are dependent? In what way?  Name 3 people who are dependent on you? In what way?
